Our full day in New Orleans began with a visit to Cafe Du Monde for Beignets. I would have included a photo, but the camera was acting up and by the time I got it operational again the beignets were gone!
We then walked along the waterfront and took in several of these tour boats and cruise boats at the docks.

The website says this particular boat is undergoing some renovations. However, it is generally available for dinner cruises and the like.

Bourbon street during the day is quite tame; however, come evening the blockades go up and the streets are for pedestrians only. Live music can be heard all down the street.

We found the architecture of these buildings, and their prominent balconies so interesting.

This street was blocked to through traffic due to construction at the other end. So, these six guys just decided they would set up their band in the middle of the street and perform. They had a nice little crowd accumulating by the time we moved on.

Louisiana Supreme Court building right in the middle of the boisterous French Quarter. Just a splendid old building. No, it is not leaning over, the parallax from the 10 mm extreme wide angle lens gives that fisheye appearance.

More of the terrific balconies and some are decorated extensively.

We were intrigued by how they made the wrought iron fence look like a row of corn. Look closely and you can see the ears. Then we looked up for a name of this place to find it has a very original name - Cornstalk Fence Hotel.

More balconies.

A view of our hotel from the street, the Place d’Armes Hotel. We have been very pleased so far. The people are nice, the room is clean and nice. And, rather amazingly for being in the heart of the French Quarter, it is quiet. I would most definitely stay here again on a future trip. Can’t argue with the location.
